A great portrait session starts with feeling calm, prepared, and excited. Whether you’re bringing a brand-new baby, a wiggly toddler, or your whole crew — we’re here to make sure you feel confident every step of the way.

Here’s how to prepare so your experience flows beautifully:

 What to Wear

We always recommend soft, timeless tones and classic silhouettes.

  • Neutrals photograph beautifully — think creams, soft taupe, blush, grey, and ivory
  • Avoid bold patterns, logos, or neon colors — they distract from your faces
  • Coordinated (not matching) outfits work best for families
  • For cake smashes and upsherin: keep it simple so your little one shines!

Need help planning? Your styling session (Step 1 in our process) includes full wardrobe guidance, plus access to our in-studio baby wardrobe and select accessories.

For Newborn Sessions

  • Feed baby just before you arrive
  • Dress baby in a zip-up sleeper (no onesie underneath)
  • Bring extra bottles, pacifiers (if used), and any sentimental items you'd like included
  • Plan for 2–3 hours, with breaks for soothing and feeding built in
  • Siblings are welcome! We typically do their part first so they can relax or head home after

The studio will be cozy and calm, with soft music, dim lighting, and everything set up just for you.

For Cake Smash

  • Bring a change of clothes — it gets messy!
  • We’ll guide you on props, outfits, and cake style ahead of time
  • We’ll capture clean portraits before the smash, then fun action shots during, then an optional milk bath
  • A towel and wipes are a good idea for afterward I

For Outdoor Sessions


 

  • Arrive dressed and ready — we’ll meet you at the location
  • We’ll guide you into relaxed, beautiful poses
  • Bring water and snacks for little ones — but nothing sticky!
  • Sunset sessions provide the softest, dreamiest light
